The person behind the weld

A direct conversation.
A vehicle-specific brief.

Wardale Engineering is run by Tom Wardale, a solo owner working from Burton Cliff Farm in Lincoln. The focus is custom stainless steel exhausts, stainless fabrication and dry ice underbody preparation, for vehicle owners across Lincolnshire. Tom spent years as an industrial pipe welder before setting up Wardale Engineering to work closer to home and focus on the vehicles he enjoys most, including old Land Rovers, classic cars and American imports.

Alongside custom builds, Tom manufactures bolt-on exhaust parts for selected 4x4s: Range Rover L322 back box deletes and Land Rover Defender and Discovery TD5 exhaust parts, available on enquiry. For custom exhausts, a model name is only the start: previous modifications, available space, the preferred sound and the intended appearance all help define the job. The aim is to discuss your vehicle rather than force a catalogue specification onto a different layout.

For customers, dealing directly with Tom keeps the brief connected to the person doing the work. Explain what is wrong with the current system, what you want to retain and what you would like to change. For fabrication, bring the dimensions, drawings or sample-part details into the conversation from the start.

Mission & standards

Define the job properly before the work begins

A useful custom brief covers more than the visible tailpipe. Fit, mounting points, clearance, sound and the condition of the existing vehicle all matter. Tom’s NVQ Level 3 in Welding and Fabrication and certified thin-wall stainless tube codings provide a concrete foundation for discussing specialist stainless work.

The same clarity applies to underbody care. Dry ice blasting is a cleaning process; underseal is a protective treatment. Neither should be confused with repairing structural corrosion. Known rust, old coatings and previous repair work belong in the enquiry so the proposed scope reflects what the vehicle needs.

A lifetime warranty is available on custom stainless steel exhaust builds only. Ask Tom for the terms for your agreed build. It is not a general promise covering manufactured parts, fabrication, dry ice blasting or underseal. Free custom quotes let you discuss the scope before committing, without an invented universal price or turnaround.
